The Young Friends of the Kansas City Public Library Booktoberfest takes place tonight at the Central Library downtown, and is open to all book and beer lovers. This beer tasting experience gives you an opportunity to sample some of the best brews from some of the best breweries, including the Kansas City Bier Company, Cinder Block Brewery, Crane Brewing Company, and the Rock & Run Brewery & Pub. WaterFire
Friday, October 10 – Saturday, October 11
The water’s of Brush Creek will be ablaze this Saturday night, thanks to Barnaby Evan’s WaterFire art installation. A must-see, the installation will be lit come Saturday (due to the rain we’ve recently had, the display has been put on hold until the weather permits), and will be accompanied by the sweet sounds of over one hundred local performing artists. The fire pits will start at Wornall Rd, and run parallel to Ward Parkway, which will be closed for the event. Don’t miss out on this enchanting and unique experience! Weston Irish Fest

Don’t forget your green. The 14th Annual O’Malley Weston Irish Fest (500 Welt St, Weston, MO) is sure to entertain this weekend. With some of the best Irish music acts and the best brews around, you can dance and drink the night away with 10,000 of your closest friends. Come out for a chance to try beers from the Weston Brewing Company, O’Malley’s Pub, and great eats from the America Bowman Restaurant. 18th & Vine Jazz and Blues Festival

Organized by the American Jazz Museum, the 18th & Vine Jazz and Blues Festival is a Kansas City original. Our city has always been known for our barbecue and blues, and with some of the best jazz performers showcasing their talents this weekend, you’ll see why. Participating venues include The Blue Room and the Gem Theater! Enjoy your city and all the sounds that come with it this weekend for the festival.
