Head out to the 39th Annual Liberty Fall Festival going on every day this weekend. Hosted on and around the Liberty Square amidst historical buildings dating back to the 1800’s, the Fall Festival is unique in the Kansas City area. Tracing all the way back to 1934, the festival is hosted on the fourth fall weekend of September each year, with this year’s event promising all kinds of entertainment including a parade, a carnival, live music performances and dancing. The festival is also a shopper’s delight with everything from handmade crafts to home grown fruits & vegetables. So bring the family to enjoy carnival rides, lively music and light-as-air cotton candy or a cool snow cone.

The 84th Annual Plaza Art Fair

Enjoy great art, delicious food and good music all at once at the 84th Annual Plaza Art Fair on the Country Club Plaza every day this weekend. Go Friday night after work, or spend all day Saturday and Sunday taking it all in. The Plaza Art Fair is one of the longest-running and most beloved art events in the nation, and Kansas City’s kickoff to autumn. The top-ranked national art event features 240 artists from across the country, food from 23 featured restaurant booths, 3 live music stages and more than 20 community arts organizations in a three-day celebration of the arts. The Plaza Art Fair encompasses nine city blocks and welcomes a crowd of over 250,000. After more than eight decades, it continues to be a weekend of people simply celebrating art and each other.

Hallmarket: A Hallmark Art Fair

If you don’t get your art fix at the Plaza Art Fair, stop by Hallmarket, a Hallmark Maker Fair on Saturday at Crown Center Square. Back for its 6th year, “Hallmarket” will showcase the creative talents of Hallmark employees. A celebration of creativity and artistic talent, around 100 Hallmark artists, photographers, sculptors and designers will display and offer their work for sale. Hallmarket is a chance for everyone to experience the creative passion that flows through the Hallmark community whether purchasing a piece of art, watching an art demonstration or connecting personally with so many creative and fascinating people. Browse watercolor and oil paintings, sculpture, textiles, jewelry, photography, art quilts and more. This is the artists’ personal work, created outside of their jobs with Hallmark. Purchases of artwork are made directly from the artist by cash or check only.

Louisburg Cider Mill Ciderfest

Nothing says fall like apple cider, pumpkins and a good corn maze, and at the Louisburg Cider Mill Ciderfest, you’ll be able to find all that and more. Always held on the last weekend in September and the first weekend in October, activities begin with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. all four days, with other activities going throughout the day until 6 p.m. Watch how apples are freshly pressed into 100% pure apple cider from initial washing to the actual press. There’s no shortage of delicious food and drink, you can buy a cup of fresh hot or cold cider, munch on a cider doughnut, try a freshly dipped caramel apple or sample a Lost Trail Root Beer — one of the soda treats that Louisburg Cider Mill has become famous for. Tap your toes at the live music stage and check out a wide variety of arts and craft booths. At the pumpkin patch, kids can ride the hay wagon to the pumpkin patch to pick their own pumpkin, experience our 10-acre corn maze, visit with farm animals, play on the hill slide and enjoy the picnic areas. There are no admission or parking fees. The corn maze and pumpkin patch area does have an $8 admission fee, children 3 and under are free.
