Experience Kauffman Stadium on Episode 2 of Selling Kansas City

On our first episode of Selling Kansas City, we explored downtown Parkville, Mo. On episode 2, Dani tours one of her favorite places in all of Kansas City – Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals.

Kauffman Stadium

Dani walks the stadium with Kayla Shively, Director of Premium and Retention Sales for the Kansas City Royals. Kayla tells us all about the recent upgrades to Kauffman Stadium.

Upgrades include premium spaces with mesh seats which are much cooler and comfortable for fans and created a nice facelift to the park. The Pepsi Party Porch in right field, a great home run spot for fans, now has a covering to shield from the sun on those hot, Missouri summer nights.

Kauffman Stadium has something for every fan. The Craft and Draft is an open air bar, and if you’re looking for more of a sports bar feel, Rival Sports Bar is a little more indoors with great big screens. Kauffman is also a great stadium to walk all around, especially if you have restless littles.

Next we met with Curt Nelson, Director of the Royals Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame started in 1986, the year after the Royals won their first World Series. The first two hall of famers entered were Amos Otis and Steve Busby. 30 years later, they were able to add to it their 2015 World Series Trophy. Curt even tells us he was talking with George Brett one time (you know, just casual convo :), and he was telling George that the Hall of Fame didn’t have any of their old cotton uniforms. George Brett said, “You know? I think I have one!” and then donated it to their Hall of Fame. What a guy. What a legend.

Weatherby Lake

After leaving Dani’s happy place, she heads over to Weatherby Lake in the Kansas City Northland. There, she met with interior designer Shauna Ward of Shauna Ward Interiors. She toured Shauna’s beautiful home that she had recently made updates to. They started off in the master bathroom where Shauna showed Dani her dream of a wet room that had come to fruition. With floor to ceiling marble tiles, the soaker tub and shower all shared one beautiful, bright space.

Next, they entered the master bedroom with big windows overlooking the lake. Shauna shared that they used Pella Windows of KC who were awesome to work with. In the midst of Shauna’s serene sleep space, she points up to the ceiling which is painted a fun orange color. She said in her design style, she loves to add bright pops of color and texture to spaces.

Shauna’s favorite room in her house is the kitchen. When they first looked at the house, the view sold them. With windows and doors all along the wall facing the lake, you couldn’t ask for a better backdrop to the most popular family space.

So why Weatherby Lake? Shauna shares that it’s a really family-friendly atmosphere. The kids can swim and then start driving boats once they have their license at 14. They love the proximity to downtown Parkville, Zona Rosa, downtown Kansas City and the airport. And you feel like you’re secluded even though you’re in a big city.
