Bring the whole family to Crown Center this weekend for plenty of holiday cheer. Your little ones will love playing and creating at Santa’s Gingerbread Station, and you can enjoy listening to an all-day line up of holiday choirs while working on your holiday shopping. Santa’s Gingerbread Station is an all-new holiday exhibit where kids and families can explore interactive elements, meet and have their photo taken with Santa Claus, climb aboard the Crown Center Express Train Engine and enjoy the Gingerbread Village play area. Activities are free and open during regular shopping hours through December 31st.

A Christmas Celebration

Set out to Missouri Town with your friends and family this Saturday to learn about the Christmas customs of English, German and French settlers, as they’re brought to life through reenactments and activities throughout the day in this historic community. The smell of wood burning fireplaces, period music and authentic decorations make this a must see holiday experience. Stick around for a special visit and candy treat from “Belsnickle”, who is sure to thrill children of all ages.

The Polar Express Family Event

Saturday, December 12

Tickets: $5

Relive the magic of a holiday classic with your family at the Alamo Drafthouse’s Polar Express Family Event this Saturday at noon. A children’s book turned movie, the Polar Express is a wonderful holiday story your whole family will fall in love with. Tickets can be purchased online in advance, and are only $5. After the show, venture out to enjoy dinner at one of the great restaurants in the surrounding Power and Light District.

Pet Photos with Santa at Petco

Photo cost benefits the KC Pet Project

Your pets need some holiday love, too! Make some holiday memories with your furry friends by bringing them to the KC Pet Project Pet Adoption Center inside the Petco store at 95th and Quivira in Overland Park, KS this Saturday to have their picture taken with Santa. Plus, it’s all for a good cause, proceeds from each portrait help the pets at KC Pet Project shelter.

Gardens by Candlelight: A Luminary Walk

Saturday, December 12 & Sunday, December 13
5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Included with Garden Admission

Enjoy the yuletide spirit with a stroll through Powell Gardens aglow with the light of hundreds of luminaria this Saturday and Sunday evening. Once you’ve completed your walk, take the trolley back to the Visitor Center to warm up in the comfort of the Grand Hall with a glowing fire and live music. Enjoy hot chocolate and complimentary homemade cookies and s’mores while listening to performers including Violinist Maggie Pruitt and Show Me Sound Chorus on Saturday, and Starlight STARS of Tomorrow and Warrensburg Recorder Consort on Sunday.
