Lions in Four | Empowering Women Around the World
How They Give Back:
Lions in Four is a globally-minded, socially conscious, affordable luxury brand. Since first being founded back in 2012 by Julie Martin, a Kansas State graduate with a degree in apparel, Lions in Four has become a global initiative to empower and advance women and children in rural areas of South India through education, training, and employment opportunities. All products are made by women artisans in the hillsides of Kerala, India, and are made from the highest quality materials. With their partnership with WE CARE of India, Lions in Four is able to donate 10% of their profits to cover operational costs for the non-profit organization, keeping the initiative growing in underdeveloped countries. When asked about the brand name, Martin referred to the habits of lions – how they act as guardians, offering protection and support to one another and the community at large. It’s a beautiful sentiment, coupled with beautiful products that make beautiful gifts. You can find the products below and more, here in Kansas City at Halls on Grand (2450 Grand Blvd, KCMO 64108), and Feng at Town Center Crossing (4335 199th St, Leawood, KS 66209).

Out of Print Clothing | Share A Story
How They Give Back:
“The way we read is changing as we move into the digital age – while it’s unclear what role the book cover will be in this new era, it’s more important than ever to reflect our own individual experiences with great literary art before it’s changed forever.”
Dickens to Fitzgerald, Austen to Orwell, Steinbeck to Thompson – Out of Print Clothing has them all. Perfect for any avid reader and book lover, Out of Print Clothing celebrates the world’s greatest stories through fashion, treating each product to feel soft and worn, like a well-read book. While many of us don’t treat reading as a luxury, it’s important to acknowledge that many parts of the world don’t have access to books at all. Out of Print plans to change that – for each product sold, one book is donated to a community in need through their partner, Books for Africa. Giving a book means giving the gift of education, adventure, and comfort to people in need. “Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home.” – Anna Quindlen

LSTN Headphones | The Healing Power of Music
How They Give Back:
Named by Esquire Magazine as “some of the coolest headphones EVER,” LSTN is changing the world through music, connecting individuals, families, and communities through sound. Each sale helps provide hearing aids to a person in need through the Starkey Hearing Foundation. In a little under 2 years, LSTN has been able to give the gift of sound to over 15,000 people in the United States, Peru, Kenya, and Uganda. It’s an uphill battle: over 360 million people in the world have disabling hearing loss, and 95% of children in deaf schools worldwide could be helped with just a hearing aid. Made from natural sustainable woods imported from around the world, each pair of headphones is tested for acoustics and inlayed with plush ear cups for long-term use. Sophisticated styling meets ultimate comfort. Giving by listening – what could be simpler?

Warby Parker Sunglasses | Visions Worth Fighting For
How They Give Back:
There’s more than meets the eye. Currently, 703 million people in the world are living without access to eyewear – limiting jobs, productivity, and income to citizens of developing countries. That’s where Warby Parker comes in. The American brand has a family of over 18,000 men and women, working in 35 countries around the globe, training and fitting people in need of eyewear. As studies show, one pair of glasses increases productivity by 35%, and monthly income by 20%. Since the company’s creation, Warby Parker has distributed over one million pairs of glasses, creating an economic impact of over $200,000,000. By partnering with VisionSpring, low-income men and women are trained in eyeglass fittings, providing long-lasting job growth in the community, and affordable eyewear for those in need. “Our work is cut out for us, our sleeves are rolled up, and we’re excited to move forward together,” the company released.
