Celebrate the 20th year of Kansas City FilmFest going on all weekend at the Cinemark Theater on the Country Club Plaza. The Kansas City FilmFest is the largest film festival in the Kansas City Metro Area and is a weekend long filled with juried films, seminars, panels, receptions and after parties. This collaborative, multi-day, annual cultural event is designed to celebrate the creativity and hard work of independent filmmakers with a mix of local, national and international award winning films screened over throughout the weekend. Opening weekend is finally here at World’s of Fun. Kick off the weekend and build the excitement by participating in the opening day campout on Friday night. No registration is required, simply show up to check in before 10 p.m. Sleep under the stars and join in the countdown to be one of the first to ride the MAMBA in 2016! Wake up Saturday morning to a free breakfast, a special admission price and an exclusive ride time on the MAMBA. If you’re a fan of vinyl, then Record Store Day is sure to become one of your new favorite holidays. With a host of great, local record stores joining in the celebration, there’s a wide variety of events and specials to participate in all across KC on Saturday. This is a day for the people who make up the world of the record store—the staff, the customers, and the artists—to come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role they play in their communities. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day. Festivities include live performances, cook-outs, body painting, meet & greets with artists, parades, DJs spinning records and so much more.

Run Like A Girl 5K

It’s going to be a beautiful weekend to get out and go run! The Inaugural Run Like A Girl 5k North KC event will take place on Sunday, April 17th at 8 a.m. at the Zona Rosa Shopping Center in North KC. This event celebrates the strength, power and determination of the female athlete. Throw in ample amounts of boas, tutus and plenty of support and encouragement from your fellow runners, and you’ve got one awesome 5k experience. All participants will receive a custom designed event shirt, finisher medal, personalized event bib and event bag. In addition to the great swag, participants will also enjoy pre race entertainment by local DJ’s and Bodies Health and Fitness as well as free face painting, a photo booth and more.
