Kansas City St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Kick off your St. Patrick’s day celebration with none other than a parade! Kansas City’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a nationally recognized event that fosters a greater awareness of the metropolitan area’s rich Irish heritage, and supports many local humanitarian, social and cultural endeavors. The parade starts at 11 a.m. and the route begins at Linwood & Broadway, then proceeds south along Broadway to all the way to 43rd Street. Get there early to grab a good spot along the route!

Westport St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

Friday, March 17
Parade Start 11 a.m.
Free

Then, head to Westport, where the fun will continue all day, and night, long! Join in the celebration in the streets of Westport for the largest St. Patrick’s Day Celebration in Kansas City! Come to Kansas City’s oldest entertainment district before, during and after the Kansas City St. Patrick’s Day parade. Westport Road and Pennsylvania Avenue will be closed all day on Friday and 10+ outdoor beer gardens & sidewalk cafes will be set up featuring food & drink specials and live entertainment. The parade begins at 11 a.m., but many businesses will be open before the parade to get your celebration started.

Get in the spring spirit at the Greater Kansas City Home Show. The Home Show has been a Kansas City tradition for 68 years. Every year, thousands of area homeowners visit for the latest in ideas and inspiration for their home, as well as new opportunities and choices to get a jump on spring home and garden projects. The Home Show brings more than 250 builders, remodelers, landscapers, designers and contractors featuring the latest design trends and construction materials. This year’s show will feature Jonathan and Drew Scott of HGTV’s Property Brothers, Karl Champley, winner of Ellen’s Design Challenge, wood-working competitions, a beer garden, a pop-up market and more. Get tickets online in advance to take advantage of lower prices.

Pompeii the Exhibition

Take the opportunity to see POMPEII: The Exhibition this weekend before it’s gone April 5th, as it makes its North American premier at Kansas City’s historic Union Station. The exhibition examines the lives of residents of Pompeii before and after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius on August 24th, 79 A.D. Nearly 200 artifacts on loan from the collection of the Naples National Archaeological Museum are on display. Travel back in time in a media-rich, object-based, immersive experience to learn how the people of Pompeii lived, loved, worked, worshipped and found entertainment. See artifacts including frescoes, mosaics, and statues from the sites that were hidden from view and forgotten for centuries.
