If you love fashion, this is the week for you! Kansas City Fashion Week is taking over downtown Kansas City starting Wednesday and lasting through the weekend with a variety of exciting events and runway shows. KCFW is a nexus of fashion professionals featuring local, national and international designers. Each year KCFW produces multiple premier runway shows, enabling designers to collaborate with seasoned stylists, make-up artists, models and photographers to present their collections in the most professional atmosphere imaginable. Buyers and individual consumers are provided an opportunity to order apparel and accessories shown on the runway and KCFW provides industry professionals an avenue to showcase their abilities to a national audience. Homegrown Buzz Music Showcase
Saturday, April 1 Doors Open 11 a.m. Bands Play 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tickets: $5
Then, all day on Saturday, local artists are taking the downtown Power & Light District by storm as part of 96.5 The Buzz presents the Homegrown Music Showcase at the Kansas City Live Block. The showcase will feature more than 30 local musicians and bands at more than 8 bars and venues spread throughout KC Live! Doors open at 11 a.m. and bands will start at 1 p.m. The event is ages 18+ only (21+ only after 9pm). There’s also something for the kids this weekend, with the Disney On Ice: Follow Your Heart at the Sprint Center all weekend. Kansas City Ballet Presents: The Sleeping Beauty

For a more adult show, check out the The Sleeping Beauty, opening this weekend with performances through April 9th. Choreographed by Artistic Director Devon Carney with music by Peter I. Tchaikovsky, it’s a beautiful take on perhaps the most beloved ballet fairy tale of all. This sumptuous production brings to life the enchanting story of Princess Aurora. The evil Carabosse bewitches the princess and her kingdom, but the benevolent Lilac Fairy places all in a deep and protective sleep which can only be awakened by true love’s kiss.
