Take a step into the past this weekend at the rich heritage festival that is Buffalo Bill Days. A Leavenworth tradition with an Old West theme, the Buffalo Bill Days Festival is a yearly festival full of music, food, arts & crafts, children’s activities and civil war re-enactors. Fun for the whole family, come experience the Wild West relived through live music, historical entertainers, vendors, food, outhouse race and much more. The event also highlights local businesses and focuses on the city’s history. In 2015, the festival brought in 22 groups and non-profit participants as well as over 6,000 visitors. It’s a classic local event you wont’ want to miss.

Love bacon? You’ll be in hog heaven this Saturday at Bacon-Fest. Bacon-Fest is back for the 8th year in a row. This one-of-a-kind event is the place to sample bacon flavored everything, throw back a cold one, and listen to local live music. Featuring bacon venders, a bacon eating contest, live music and more, this annual event raises funds for the Childrens Therapeutic Learning Center (CTLC) and the Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City (RIKC). A whole new kind of bar scene descends on Kansas City this weekend with the Paris of the Plains Cocktail Festival. The Paris of the Plains Cocktail Festival (POP Fest) is an annual celebration of the art of the cocktail, food and music. POP Fest was founded by local bartenders to promote the craft of bartending in Kansas City, and has roots in a regional competition. Still a highlight of the event, the Paris of the Plains Bartending Competition has evolved into an up-close-and-personal showcase of the country’s most creative bartenders. POP Fest now encompasses four days of educational seminars by world experts, after-hour jazz and music parties and lively competitions. Don’t miss a weekend of fun as a festival full of hot air balloons and great music takes over Hodge Park in the Northland. The Rhythm ‘N Balloons Festival promises three days of fun, music and hot air balloons. The all weekend festival features headliners such as Eddie Money, along with a kids’ zone, food vendors, face painters, interactive street performers, tethered balloons rides and so much more. Look up in awe as the balloons take flight and glow in the evening sky while listening to the rockin’ performances from a variety of live bands. It’s sure to be a festival with something to delight all ages.
