Pep Rally Celebration of the Century

Friday, September 5, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Kick off football season this Friday at Union Station for the first annual Kansas City Pep Rally Celebration! With live guest appearances from Chiefs players, the coaching staff and Chiefs cheerleaders, Red Friday is a perfect excuse to wear your best Kansas City gear. Bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy live music, a 3D digital Union Station history display, and a stunning fireworks finale over downtown Kansas City. If you donate $4 to Ronald McDonald House Charities, you can even take home a Chief’s Kingdom Flag in preparation for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. The Kansas City Improv Festival Kickoff

Thursday, September 4, 7:00 p.m.

Get ready to laugh… . The annual Kansas City Improv Festival kicks-off this Thursday at the Kick Comedy Theatre, and this year promises to be better than the rest. Produced by the Kansas City Improvisational Company, the festival will run until the 13th of September, and partners with the Green Room Burgers and the Westport Coffee House. Come see some of the greatest comedic minds Kansas City has to offer, and laugh until your side hurts at on-the-spot comedy created from audience suggestions. Previous guests of the festival include Kansas City native and Saturday Night Live performer Jason Sudeikis, so grab your tickets early (you never know who’s going to show up!) The streets of historic Westport will be filled this weekend with beautiful works of art, fine crafts, and handmade jewelry for Art Westport, a celebration of 35 years of Kansas City creativity. Support the work of over 130 local artists, and enjoy local Westport shopping and food trucks. It’s a great way to enjoy your city in a new way. Kansas City Chalk & Walk Festival

Saturday through Sunday, September 6-7

Saturday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

See works of art come to life in front of your eyes this weekend at Crown Center at the annual Chalk & Walk Festival. Sidewalk chalk artists will transform city sidewalks into amazing works of art, along with sharing the space with street painters, performers, and live entertainers.
