Sprint Family Fun Days: Around the World

$5 for All Access Wristbands

Second Saturdays mean it’s time again for the Sprint Family Fun Series, with this month’s theme Around the World. This installation of the event taking place in downtown’s Power and Light District will feature an exotic petting zoo, a parakeet experience, water games and other fun activities for kids of all ages. Admission to the event is free, but some activities require a wristband to participate. All access wristbands can be purchased for $5 each.

Craft Beer Day in the Crossroads

Saturday, July 11
All Day

Two new craft breweries, Double Shift Brewing Company and Torn Label Brewing Company, are opening this weekend in the KC Crossroads Arts District. To celebrate, the area has collected a list of all the other Crossroads bars and restaurants that feature local craft beers. Spend your Saturday wandering around the district to try them all and maybe find your new favorite hangout. Here’s a map to help you get started.

Young Friends of Art Summer White Party

The YFA Summer White Party is back this Friday for it’s 6th consecutive year, as it continues to grow in size and popularity. This outdoor summer fundraising event is hosted by the Nelson-Atkins Young Friends of Art. Attend Kansas City’s only “white linen” party in the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park on the lawn of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, with all proceeds supporting the museum. This year guests can also enjoy The Four Seasons, the highly-acclaimed works from artist Philip Haas on the museum’s grounds. Tickets include an open bar, light snacks and live entertainment throughout the evening.

Saturday Night Movies

Bring the whole family to Saturday Movie Nights at Briarcliff Village. The free movie events are every Saturday night during the summer starting at dusk, around 8:45 p.m., at Mulberry Lake across from Briarcliff Village. Bring blankets, lawn chairs and snacks and find a comfortable spot to lay out on the lawn to enjoy the show. The summer lineup features a variety of movies including this week’s action-adventure Godzilla. Each movie averages around 200 viewers, with some nights even more popular with more than 400 people, so make sure you get there early to claim your spot.

WeekEnder Series

Friday, July 10
5 p.m. – 11 p.m.
FREE Admission

Start the weekend off right with the WeekEnder Series at Crown Center. These free events take place every Friday evening this summer, featuring music from local bands starting at 6 p.m. Local artisans and food trucks will be there for you to shop and eat, then settle in for a movie under the stars. This weekend’s feature film is The Goonies, starting at 9 p.m.
