Movies on the Riverfront

Friends of the River present The Sandlot for Movies on the Riverfront, the first of four events in the series this summer and fall. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and friends and family to enjoy an outdoor movie on a big screen. Don’t forget to bring your own snacks, wine, beer and bug spray. Admission is FREE, and dogs are also welcome. The movie will begin at 8:30 p.m., or sunset. Food and ice cream trucks will be at the event selling sweet treats to keep you cool.

Fiery Stick Open 2.0

Kick your weekend off right with the second annual Fiery Stick Open 2.0, hosted by LiveKC. Gather your friends, grab a drink at any of the bars and find a spot on the North lawn of the National World War I Museum and Memorial. This epic summer lawn party features games such as bocce, croquet, oversized beer pong, ladder golf, giant Jenga and more. You’ll also have a shot at a million bucks with the Million Dollar Hole-In-One Shootout, so if you think your golf swing is up to par, arrive early to sign up for the qualifying rounds. Food trucks will be at the event selling delicious eats, followed by a nightcap performance by Girl Talk. Get your tickets in advance.

Capital Federal Concert Series Presents: Train with The Fray and Matt Nathanson

Cultivate Festival

Chipotle Mexican Grill is bringing its Cultivate Food, Music and Ideas Festival to Kansas City for the first time this Saturday. The free festival features performances by popular bands, cooking demonstrations by renowned national and local chefs and of course, amazing food. There will also be a kids zone, local artisans, a variety of tastings and other exhibits offering something for everyone. Bonus: you can earn a free Chipotle burrito and other great offers throughout the day.

Kansas City’s Big Picnic: The Annual Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park Celebration

FREE Admission

Spend your Sunday at the best summer picnic in Kansas City at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. In celebration of National Parks and Recreation Month, the museum is teaming up with Kansas City Parks and Rec to create a GIANT picnic space on the lawn. Come together for an evening of outdoor fun for all ages – including four-legged friends! There will be live music throughout the event with performances by Victor and Penny and their Loose Change Orchestra, Dylan Bassett Percussion and Chad Abernathy. Other activities include the StoneLion Puppet Theatre, food trucks, sculpture exploration, badminton and other lawn games, the Picnic Project and more. A Doggie Station will be provided by Wayside Waifs. Pack your own picnic or grab your dinner from an on-site food truck.
