Also back this weekend, the WeekEnder series kicks off once again for the summer at Crown Center Square. Cap off your work week with top local bands and favorite food trucks every Friday this summer, then finish the evening with a famous flick under the stars. This Friday, Drew Six performs, followed by a screening of “The Goonies.” Performance and festivities start at 6 p.m., so spread out your blanket and find something to eat at one of the food trucks on site such as Cheesy Pop’s Pizza, Kona Ice, Pita for Good and Estrella AZUL. Shop local art at the artists’ vendor booths throughout the evening, then settle in for the movie starting at around 9 p.m.

Summer Concert Series at the Kansas City Museum

For another free concert opportunity, head to the Kansas City Museum at Corinthian Hall Friday evening. The first of two free summer concerts hosted on the lawn the historic grounds of the Kansas City Museum, The Buhs will be performing starting at 7 p.m. he Buhs are an eclectic group of singers, emcees and musicians who perform their own brand of soul, pop, and hip-hop. You may bring a blanket and lawn chairs to picnic on the museum grounds, so come early to get a good spot. Dogs will also be allowed in a designated area. The museum will host another concert again later in the summer on August 12th.

First Annual Pup Crawl
Saturday, July 9

Come out to the Waldo area on Saturday for the first ever Pup Crawl benefitting the Great Plains SPCA and raise a glass in support of the 35,000 pets served at Great Plains SPCA every year. The Pup Crawl is a dog-friendly event featuring stops at some of Waldo’s favorite watering holes. You’ll have the chance to win awesome raffle prizes and enjoy amazing drink specials at participating locations such as Walsh’s Corner Cocktail, Tommy’s The Happy Place, Kansas City Bier Company, The Well, Lew’s Grill and Bar and Johnny Kaw’s Waldo. Each of the participating bars is adopting a pup-friendly policy for the day, so bring Fido along!

YFA Summer White Party

Experience the grandeur of the Roman Empire, without leaving Kansas City at the 7th annual YFA Summer White Party at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art this Saturday evening. This summer fundraising event is hosted by the Young Friends of Art, and this year’s event promises to be the largest yet. Celebrate the exhibition Luxury: Treasures of the Roman Empire, which features items used by the Roman elite. The When in Rome event will take place both indoors in Bloch Lobby and outdoors in the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park. With more than 900 guests in attendance, the party will feature creative activities and craft cocktails set among the art in the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park. Ticket price includes an open bar, hors d’oeurves and special entertainment, including a dance party on the terrace.
