Stockyards Brewing Co. Ribbon Cutting & Open House Weekend

July 15 – 16
Friday: 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.

There’s a new brewery on the block in the Historic West Bottoms area. Join Stockyards Brewing Company this Friday and Saturday as they celebrate their ribbon cutting ceremony and first open house weekend. The Ribbon Cutting with the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce will take place on Friday afternoon, followed by live music and the tapping of some of the brewery’s signature beers. Or head out for Saturday to support Kansas City’s newest local craft brewery with more tastings, tours and music from a variety of DJs. Tours run on the hour every hour.

Buzz Beach Ball

For some live music you won’t want to miss Buzz Beach Ball, presented by alternative radio station, 96.5 The Buzz. This annual concert takes place over two full days and features two stages in the heart of Children’s Mercy Park. Kansas City’s Big Picnic

Sunday, July 17
4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Then on Sunday, it’s time for summer’s biggest picnic on the lawn of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Kansas City’s Big Picnic will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and celebrate the traditions of ancient Rome with the theme “Banquet on a Blanket”. Sample local food truck offerings or bring your own picnic and enjoy an afternoon of free activities and entertainment stretching from the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park through Theis Park. Entertainment will include a variety of live music performances, an art activity, a sculpture challenge and other museum activities and lawn games.
