Cultivate Kansas City’s Urban Grown Tour

Cultivate Kansas City is hosting the 7th annual Urban Grown Tour this Saturday and Sunday. During this self-guided tour, you can explore 30 local farms and gardens across the Kansas City Metro area that are growing food for your table and celebrate the inspirational farms and gardens throughout our city. Tour sites showcase the inspiring diversity of food and farm projects in Kansas City, giving you a taste of a variety of urban farm businesses. Whether you are a life-long gardener or an urban dweller just branching into farmer’s markets, the Urban Grown Tour is for you. Tickets for the event are available online.

Head to Union Station this weekend for the return of Maker Faire Kansas City, the greatest show and tell on earth. Maker Faire Kansas City celebrates all things people create themselves, from new technology and electronic gizmos, to urban farming and “slow-made” foods to homemade clothes, quilts and sculptures. A family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, it’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning. It brings together makers, crafters, inventors, hackers, scientists and artists for a faire full of fun and inspiration. Jurassic Quest

For an event the kids are sure to love head to the American Royal Complex this weekend for Jurassic Quest. A special traveling event, Jurassic Quest is a fun-filled dinosaur adventure for the whole family. The main dinosaur exhibit features ultra-realistic, life-size animatronic dinosaurs with over 50 life-size dinosaurs in all. Visitors can interact with these huge creatures, learn about them and even ride a few. The event also features cute baby dinosaurs and lots of fun activities for kids of all ages, such as fossil digs where young paleontologists can uncover long hidden dinosaurs bones, a “Dino Bounce” area, face painting, dino crafts and much more! Art of the Car Concours

Sunday, June 26
10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
General Admission: $20

Then on Sunday, head to the Kansas City Art Institute for the Art of the Car Concours, benefiting the Kansas City Art Institute scholarship fund. The Concours features more than 200 vintage, classic and special interest vehicles, including cars, trucks, race cars, motorcycles, and pedal cars. The event is unique for a major national concours in having no formal judging and no classes of vehicles. The vehicles are showcased on the grounds of the Kansas City Art Institute, an eclectic and informal setting that avoids the pressure of traditional concours events.  Each year has a special feature, with the 2016 exhibition “Total Performance Powered by Ford.” This will celebrate Ford’s “Total Performance” promotional program of the 1960’s and the 50th Anniversary of Ford’s 1-2-3 Victory at the Le Mans 24-Hour Endurance Race in 1966.
