Bring your family for a weekend of fun and ice skating at the Linden Square Ice Rink in Downtown Gladstone. With pricing specials on both Saturday and Sunday, the rink promises affordable family fun. The Saturday Skating Special is $7.00 for a single day admission and includes one cookie decorating at the neighboring The Laughing Place Bakery for a sweet treat. Sundays are Family Fun Sundays and admission is just $3. All fees include skate rental. The rink will remain open on weekends throughout the regular season until Sunday, February 28th.

Indoor Farmers’ Market

Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the fresh produce and baked goods of a farmers’ market. If you’re looking for the season’s freshest, head to the Olathe Community Center this Saturday morning for the new indoor farmers’ market. Held twice monthly during the winter months, the farmers’ market features a wide variety of items and fresh produce including farm fresh eggs, fruits & veggies, honey, baked goods, soaps, kettle corn and more each time. Chiefs vs. Texans Playoff Watch Party

Saturday, January 9
Party Kicks off at 2:30 p.m.
FREE Admission

The Kansas City Chiefs are in the playoffs! So come out to the KC Live! Block in the Power & Light District to cheer them on with your fellow fans this Saturday. This free event will kick off at 2:30 p.m. and will include appearances by KC Wolf, Chiefs Cheerleaders, the Rumble, Chiefs personality Jillian Carroll, former players and more. The first 5,000 fans in the door will receive an exclusive Chiefs Kingdom Playoff flag. Sports Radio 810 WHB’s Steven St. John and Nate Bukaty will host the party on the KC Live! stage, where the game will be shown on the big screen. Kickoff is set for 3:35 p.m. CT. All ages are welcome, but anyone under the age of 21 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Looking for the perfect way to have fun while keeping your healthy New Year’s resolutions? Join the Pop Up Yoga tribe this Saturday for the first practice of 2016 inside the beautiful and historic Union Station. This all-levels yoga flow class will be held in the north lobby. All are welcome, regardless of skill level, just remember to bring your own yoga mat, as well as a suggested donation for the class and $5 for the parking garage. After you’re stretched and relaxed, make a day of it and visit Harvey’s for brunch or Parisi for coffee afterward.

Seasonal Hike: The Bones of Winter

Don’t let winter stop you from enjoying the great outdoors. Get active this Sunday by joining the seasonal hike at Powell Gardens. Join Director of Horticulture Alan Branhagen to discover the wonder in the winter landscape. You’ll see the beauty of tree silhouettes, dried grasses, evergreens, winter seeds and berries, and spot some winter birds along the way. Experience nature and the changing seasons on a hike on the 3.25-mile Byron Shutz Nature Trail. Binoculars and waterproof footwear are recommended.
