A new event at Worlds of Fun is making June weekends a lot more, well, fun. The All American Barbecue & Brew Festival features a host of craft beers, all from local Kansas City and Midwestern breweries paired with delicious barbecue samples. Guests 21 and older are invited to have a taste while hearing the stories that inspired these brew masters to create their own unique blends of hops, wheat, and barley. Guests can either purchase a park admission & event ticket together online in advance for $59.99, or can buy an event ticket only for $25 once in the park. The event ticket includes 2 4oz tastings at 6 different locations throughout the park. Participating breweries include KC Bier Company, Tallgrass Brewing Company, New Belgium Craft Beer, Summit Brewing Company, Public House Brewing Company and Torn Label Brewery. This inaugural event is a summertime must-go.

Union Hill Garden Tour

Sunday, June 14 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
$10 for adults
$8 for seniors (60 years and up)
Children under 12 are FREE

Take a self-guided tour through Union Hill to experience the beauty of one of Kansas City’s oldest neighborhoods. Wind your way through dozens of the most charming and vibrantly colored gardens nestled in the historic Victorian neighborhood where community and private residents’ gardens will be open for viewing. Get tips from homeowners and expert gardeners on how to make your garden grow. Purchase plants and other gardening goods from local vendors and artisans throughout the neighborhood. Enjoy live entertainment at the neighborhood gazebo where a string quartet from the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance will perform classical music from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Neighborhood restaurants will also offer special discounts to Garden Tour attendees. Proceeds from the Garden Tour benefit the Union Cemetery Historical Society. Tickets can be purchased at the time of the event or online.

Ride the Fountains Bicycle Tour

Sunday, June 14
8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
$30 for members of KCMBC
$40 for non-members
Children 18 and under FREE

Don’t miss Kansas City’s favorite bike ride. The family-friendly bicycle tour of Kansas City starts and finishes at the beautiful grounds of the World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial. The ride takes you past many of Kansas City’s historic fountains and other landmarks such as the Kansas City Museum, Country Club Plaza, Liberty Memorial, and scenic Cliff Drive, just to name a few. It’s definitely one of the best and most fun ways to see Kansas City’s beautiful fountains all while having fun with your family and friends. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, there’s a tour fit for your riding style: 46 miles, 24 miles or a relaxed 10-mile guided tour. The KCMBC Ride Marshals will also be on hand with tips and help for new cyclists. Each rider will receive a guide of the fountains, route map, swag bag and lunch tickets. Plus, you won’t want to miss the after party! Live music, food, and other activities will take place on the lawn at Liberty Memorial following the ride. A portion of the proceeds is given to the Friends of Fountains Foundation to help conserve Kansas City’s fountains for future enjoyment.

Sprint Family Fun Days: Lil’ Sports Fans

Saturday, June 13
11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Bring your lil’ sports fans out to Sprint Family Fun Days for this weekend’s themed event. Your kids will enjoy a day jam packed with a variety of sports themed activities including Hedrick’s Racing Pigs, arts and crafts by Oddball Kids, photos with KC’s team mascots, mini golf, Kohl’s Children’s Mercy Star Power games and activities, a duck pond and hula hoops. For an additional $5 you can get an all-access wristband for your child which admits them to premium activities such as an obstacle course, bounce house, Batter Up Baseball, Soccer Shootout, Smiles Express Train, Hippity Hop Horse Derby and Pop-A-Shot. Afterwards, join the Royals vs. Cardinals Watch Party hosted by the Kansas City Royals & 610 Sports Radio featuring giveaways, contests, food and drink specials, and more! The watch party starts at 2 p.m. with first pitch at 3:10 p.m. All ages are welcome and families are encouraged.

5th Annual Westport Beer Festival

Saturday, Jun. 13
5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Tickets $30 in advance, $35 at the gate

Spend your Saturday evening enjoying more than 100 high-quality, full-flavored beers from more than 35 breweries around the United States and abroad at the 5th Annual Westport Beer Festival. Guests can sample some of the world’s best brews and fabulous food while also having the opportunity to mingle and meet with the brewers from each participating brewery. Members from this year’s Sporting Kansas City team will also be at the event for meet and greet opportunities. Each ticket includes a commemorative tasting glass and unlimited pours from participating breweries, while supplies last.
