First Fridays in the Crossroads Arts District

Friday, September 4
5 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Join the thousands that explore the galleries and shops in the Crossroads Arts District for one of the nation’s largest art walks. On the First Friday of every month, thousands of people meander through the Crossroads in Kansas City, enjoying what has become one of the city’s liveliest events. Arts organizations, galleries, studios, and a wide variety of local businesses feature regional and national artists as well as live entertainment starting at 5 p.m. Make it an evening, with dinner and drinks from a colorful array of restaurants and entertainment venues. Food trucks, street music, aerial performances, sidewalk vendors, live theater, dancing, and more are featured at this monthly event.

Kansas City Irish Fest

With over 30 bands on seven stages, heritage workshops and displays, comedy, genealogy, a massive children’s area and so much more, there is no better way to celebrate Celtic Pride in KC than the annual Kansas City Irish Fest. The three day festival is packed full of fun and entertainment the whole family will enjoy and is definitely an event worth checking out. Hosted at Hallmark’s Crown Center, Irish fest is dedicated to the preservation of the Midwest’s rich Irish heritage, and committed to family-friendly entertainment. Because of the size and quality of the festival activities, K.C.’s Irish Fest is considered one of the most successful Celtic celebrations in the nation. Tickets are available in a variety of packages at differing prices throughout the weekend.

SantaCaliGon Days

September 4 – 7

Don’t miss the 43rd annual SantaCaliGon Days Festival going on all weekend in historic Independence, Missouri. The festival commemorates the origin of the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon trails during the country’s great westward expansion by early pioneers. Last year’s event drew 308,000 attendees during Labor Day weekend at the region’s oldest and largest festival. SantaCaliGon Days features 500 artisan, crafter, food and commercial vendor booths, three entertainment stages, a large carnival midway, and much more. Admission and all activities besides the carnival are free to enjoy.

Kanas City Renaissance Festival Opening Weekend

The Kansas City Renaissance Festival is back! Opening this weekend and running through October 18th, travel back in time with this Kansas City tradition that’s been going strong since 1977. You’ll enjoy everything from jousting knights to unique crafts, music, comedy and shows. And, of course, the infamous turkey legs are a great reason to visit, too. There’s something for the whole family in the 16-acre village. Tickets are available at the gate, but you’ll save a few bucks if you purchase them in advance.
