Jazz in the Woods

Experience two wonderful evenings of Jazz under the stars at the 28th annual Jazz in the Woods, a two-day showcase of local culture and the arts, going on this Friday and Saturday at Corporate Woods. Established in 1989, Jazz in the Woods highlights the best the Kansas City area has to offer in live music, food, and entertainment. Organized and produced by the Overland Park South Rotary Club, all net proceeds, including the $5 festival entry fee, will go towards supporting local children’s charities.

Sprint Family Fun Days – Capes & Crowns

Bring your kiddos downtown for the Sprint Family Fun Series the second Saturday of each month, May – October. A full day of family fun takes over the Power and Light District as Sprint Family Fun Days continues with Capes and Crowns on Saturday. Kids can have their photos taken with their favorite super heroes & princesses and meet real life local super heroes from the Kansas City Fire Department. Activities include a Castle Moon Bounce, Super Hero Bounce House, a trackless train and more. Admission to the event is free, but fees apply for premium activities ($5 all-access wristband per child).

Crown Center Antique Festival

The Crown Center Antique Festival enters its 17th year this Saturday and Sunday with a festival featuring a variety of pottery, china, toys, linens, collectibles, furniture, jewelry, books and much more. Spend an afternoon strolling through shopping from more than 40 vendors at more than 100 booths.

Urbana KC

Finally, on Sunday, Urbana KC will be the place to be in the Power and Light District. The event is a downtown street scene happening on select Sundays throughout the summer, where you can eat and drink under the stars, hear live music, see public art displays and share a uniquely Kansas City summer experience, all in the heart of the Kansas City Power & Light District neighborhood. The event is free to attend and open to the public, all ages welcome. Special at this month’s event is Urbana’s eats and drinks. For $25, you can purchase an Urbana Tasting Tour Ticket to enjoy a specialty item at participating venues. Ticket includes Lobster Mac-n-Cheese at Bristol Seafood Grill, Red Dragon and California roll sushi pieces and an Edamame Hummus small plate at Drunken Fish, Mini BRGR’s at BRGR Kitchen + Bar, choice of a smoothie at ProteinHouse, specialty donut with soft serve ice cream at MeMa’s Old-Fashioned Bakery, and more.
