The Crown Center Ice Terrace is now officially open for the season at Crown Center Square. As Kansas City’s only public outdoor ice skating rink, it’s now celebrating its 44th season of great skating fun. Open through the holidays into mid-March, head out this weekend to enjoy the rink and relatively warm temperatures. You can rent skates onsite, or feel free to bring your own.

Sixth Annual Strong Ale Festival
Saturday, November 12

The Strong Ale Festival to benefit AIDS Walk Kansas City returns to Westport for the sixth year this Saturday afternoon. Enjoy sampling over 70 8% ABV beers and above from over 30 American and international craft breweries. Each ticket is good for entry to the festival, a commemorative glass and unlimited beer sampling. This year’s theme is Super Brewer, so wear your best super hero or brewer gear for a costume contest with great prizes for best dressed. Get tickets online in advance to score a cheaper price.

Holiday Lighting Celebration

Get into the holiday spirit at Briarcliff Village’s Holiday Lighting Celebration this Saturday. Starting at 12 p.m. Bar K will host a “pup-up” dog park by the lake. Enjoy craft beer, wine and specialty cocktails from Snow & Company as your furry friends run and play. Dog Bar K will provide trained staff to monitor the park, giving you a chance to walk across the street and shop. Tour the breathtaking Nell Hill’s Holiday Open House and stop in your favorite boutiques and stores. There will be a $10 entry fee for the Holiday Sip & Shop Walk, with 10% of sales from participating boutiques going to Feed Northland Kids. Then, starting at 3 p.m., the family fun begins with bouncy houses, live music, caricaturists, FREE photos with Santa, face painting, a photo booth, and so much more.

Lyric Opera of Kansas City Presents “The Marriage of Figaro”

If you’re interested in attending an opera, few operas are as delightful as Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, being performed this Friday and Sunday by the Lyric Opera of Kansas City at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. You won’t want to miss what is considered by many to be the most perfect opera ever written. Estimated run time for the show is 3 hours and 15 minutes, including one 30 minute intermission. It is sung in Italian with English subtitles.
